Show your support for the Western North Carolina Historical Association (WNCHA) and our mission to preserve and promote the history of WNC by becoming a business member today! For just $75 you will become a critical partner in this quest. As a 501 (c)(3) Nonprofit Corporation we are only able to survive if people who care about our mission step up financially to support our cause.
Our mission is simple. It is the preservation and promotion of the history of Western North Carolina through the care, interpretation, and presentation of the Smith-McDowell House, the education of the public through lectures, exhibitions, publications, related events; and the facilitation of cooperation among regional historical organizations.
We present two annual awards, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Literary Award and The Outstanding Achievement Award in WNC history. The TWMLA is presented to authors of printed works that focus special attention on Western North Carolina. In 1955 the WNC Historical Association and the Lipinsky family of Asheville presented the first Thomas Wolfe Memorial Literary Award to Wilma Dykeman for The French Broad. The trophy for Outstanding Achievement goes to an individual or organization which has made significant contributions to the preservation and promotion of the history of the mountain region.
For your $75 annual membership fee you will receive a number of special privileges including free admission to the Smith-McDowell House Museum for yourself and a guest, free admission to WNCHA sponsored educational lectures and seminars, invitations to exclusive member only events and additional exposure for your business as we promote your membership in our organization through our networks.
Don’t have a business? No problem! We have a variety of membership levels available beginning with an individual membership at just $35.
