WNCHA Experiences: Henry River Mill Village Tour
October 16 @ 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Join us Saturday, Oct 16 as WNCHA takes a private tour of the Henry River Mill Village outside of Morganton, North Carolina. From 1905 until the 1960s, the Henry River Manufacturing Company relied on hundreds of individuals and families manufacturing yarn in this mill and living in its constructed village. The main mill burned in the 1970s, but several houses and structures remain. This site, on the National Register of Historic Places, has been used in recent years as a venue and scenes from District 12 in the Hunger Games were filmed here. Read more about the site: https://www.henryrivermillvillage.com/
Participants will commute individually. We will meet at the site by 10:45AM and tour the grounds with a guide at 11:00AM. Bring a bagged lunch as we will picnic at the conclusion of the tour.
