We will use colored sand on a prepared surface to make a beautiful mandala design. The word Mandala (pronunciation mon- dah- lah) means “circle”.  A Mandala represents wholeness, a cosmic diagram reminding us of our relation to infinity, extending beyond and within our bodies and minds. Children’s mandalas are easy to color or decorate and are suitable for young children. Ours will feature concentric circles with sunburst, flower or geometric shapes.

This activity is best for youngsters who can manage small details and patience. Younger crafters may have a parent willing to help them or may be offered a mandala coloring sheet as an alternative.

Reservations are required and there is a limit of 12 Sand Mandala crafters. Use this link for easy on-line reservation. Inclement weather date is January 26.

Fee is $5 per Mandala crafter ($2 for youngsters who use the coloring sheet).
The mandala appears in all aspects of life, the Earth, the Sun, the Moon and more obviously the circles of life encompassing friends, family and communities.  Mandalas are circular designs symbolizing the notion that life is never ending. While many mandalas have spiritual significance to an individual or group of individuals we will allow individuals to interpret their mandala in their own way.
