Educational Programs at the Smith McDowell House Museum

Dear Teachers:

Detail image of the dining room.As the cost of maintaining Smith-McDowell House Museum has risen, economic forces have decreased the amounts of funds available to us. Therefore we must cut expenses while continuing to improve the quality of our educational programming. One way we are improving our educational programming is by rewriting much of the outdated material, adding to our programming selection, and by writing our curriculum to meet the North Carolina Standard Course of Study so that it is more user friendly to you as teachers.

Inevitably though we are forced to cut costs some how, and one way we can do this is by sending out our teachers guide via a PDF file. Not only is this helping us to cut costs but we are hoping to reach more teachers this way. Please forward this file on to all 2nd, 4th and 8th grade teachers; all social studies and history teachers; all interior design and architecture teachers; all department chairs and grade level chairs.

We look forward to seeing you at the Smith-McDowell House Museum.
